Let's face it - most solar installations look like they were designed by engineers who've never heard the word "aesthetic". Enter the YZ-New Design EW Ballasted Roof Young Zone Solar system, where clean energy meets architectural swagger. Imagine if Tesla's Cybertruck had a rooftop lovechild with IKEA furniture, you'd get this game-changing solar solution.
Unlike traditional bolt-down systems that turn rooftops into Swiss cheese, our ballasted design uses:
A recent MIT study showed ballasted systems reduce installation time by 40% while maintaining wind resistance up to 130 mph. That's like hurricane-proofing your power bill!
We didn't just design a solar system - we built an energy ecosystem. The Young Zone interface turns energy monitoring into a TikTok-worthy experience:
Our beta testers in Austin reported 22% higher engagement compared to traditional monitoring apps. One user joked, "I finally found something more addictive than Instagram Stories!"
The Brooklyn Brewery Project achieved:
Their marketing director quipped, "Our rooftop went from eyesore to influencer faster than you can say 'hashtag cleanenergy'."
While competitors are stuck in 2010s solar tech, we've embraced:
Our systems come with upgrade slots for upcoming tech - because your roof shouldn't become obsolete faster than your iPhone charger.
With our SnapGrid™ technology:
A Denver installer remarked, "It's like the difference between building with Lincoln Logs vs. actual logs."
The EW in our name stands for "Eco-Warrior", but we prefer "Exceptionally Wise". These systems integrate seamlessly with:
Our R&D team's current pet project? Solar panels that double as urban beehive habitats. Because saving the planet should be a group project.
Still think solar is just for crunchy granola types? The YZ-New Design EW Ballasted Roof Young Zone Solar system is here to flip that script - one sunbeam at a time. Who knew saving the planet could look this cool?
Here's a closer look at rooftop solar in Canada and things to consider, including the up-front cost and a mix of policies and incentives that vary widely across the country.. Here's a closer look at rooftop solar in Canada and things to consider, including the up-front cost and a mix of policies and incentives that vary widely across the country.. This guide helps you decide between solar roof shingles and solar panels, compare the costs and specifically looks at installing shingles in Canada. [pdf]
Today, a good way of estimating the cost of installing solar panels on your roof is to assume roughly $3 per watt. With an average Canadian home requiring between 5 and 10 kW of solar panels, this would work out to $15,000 for a 5 kW system. It should be noted, however, that the price per watt is inversely proportional to the cost of the system.
Solar roofs have an identical install as a traditional solar panel. This provides cost savings measures and can utilize current racking tools readily available through most solar panel installers. Unlike Tesla’s Solar Shingles, these Solar Roof panels are easy to install and built to withstand Canadian climates.
But if you look closely at some roofs, you might find an intriguing lack of traditional panel design. With a Solar Roof, it becomes possible to produce clean, renewable energy without worrying about the aesthetic of traditional panels. These novel roofs can capture sunlight and convert them directly to electricity.
But incentives and policies that encourage or discourage solar vary widely across Canada. Ashley Reid put solar panels on her home in southern Ontario with the help of federal grant and loan programs. Based on her calculations, she says it makes financial sense to have the panels installed on her home. (Submitted by Ashley Reid)
It's a solution touted by Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, which started selling solar roof tiles in the U.S. in 2017. Since then, a range of made-in-Canada options for different parts of buildings have hit the market — and installations have sprung up across the country showcasing what's possible.
